Wells-Ogunquit Adult Community Education, in conjunction with the Wells Police Department, is offering a dynamic new program called RAD (Rape Aggression Defense) May 2nd through May 11th from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Wells High School.

The RAD System teaches realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. Designed by police officers and safety experts, RAD uses a woman’s natural strengths effectively against an attacker’s vulnerabilities. This comprehensive program includes lecture, discussion and physical resistive strategies. It begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction, risk avoidance and progresses to basic hands-on training and practice. Nationally certified instructors from the Wells P.D. will take participants through this 4-session program.

Each participant that completes the program will receive a manual outlining the entire program. This manual is the key (or pass) to a free, lifetime “return and practice” policy. The total cost of this program is $29, with a portion going to the Wells P.D. to purchase additional equipment and expand the program.
