Wells-Ogunquit CSD Nutrition Services Director Interviewed on MPBN

On October 2nd, Wells-Ogunquit CSD Nutrition Services Director Tyler Goodwin appeared on Maine Public Broadcasting’s (MPBN) ‘Maine Calling’ radio program to participate in a discussion about new guidelines for school lunch programs across Maine and the nation. Program host Keith Shortall was joined by Goodwin, Heidi Kessler, school nutrition manager for statewide “Let’s Go! nutrition program at The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center and Adam Williams, founder of FoodCycle. The group was discussing USDA nutritional guidelines for school lunches brought about by passage of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act in 2010. In an MPBN studio in Portland are Tyler Goodwin (left), Heidi Kessler followed by Keith Shortall. Goodwin has been guiding the steady improvement of the nutritional value of school lunches for students in the Wells-Ogunquit CSD for the past eight years. In May of 2012 Wells Elementary School was awarded the prestigious Silver Award in the Healthier US Schools Challenge by the United States Department of Agriculture.
