In early October, twelve 5th grade students at Wells Junior High School were recognized by their school for being selected Students of the Month for September 2019. They were chosen for this distinction by their teachers for demonstrating the school’s core values of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Compassion, and Trustworthiness.

“These are attributes that we want to see from our students each and every day,” commented WJHS Principal Roland (AJ) Dufort. “The 5th-Grade has been recognizing students for a number of years and it helps students to see that displaying our core values and modeling them daily pays dividends. We are really lucky that we have such a large percentage of our students who set the bar for everyone to follow.”

Dufort explained why 5th-grade students at WJHS transition so well to the junior high environment. “We have a great 5th-grade team of teachers who make students feel welcome and comfortable. Our 5th-graders have their own wing in our building and still spend lots of time with their homeroom teachers.”

WJHS’s newest Students of the Month: Kaitlyn Daly, Mattie Carpentier, Sahil Altaf, Jesse Pullen, Livia DiDomenicantonio, Regan Bedell, Jason Noble, Connor Brown, Ben Brown, Carys Ramsey, Mila Mustacka, and Gauge Shepard.
