Top spellers recognized by WOCSD School Committee

On March 6th, two Wells Junior High School students were recognized by the Wells-Ogunquit CSD School Committee for their success in the 2019 WJHS Spelling Bee. Eighth-grade student Madison Smith won the contest with the word “ricotta” and seventh-grade student Sam Coleman became runner up. Twelve students participated in this annual event held February 6th in the Ward Gymnasium.

Presenting a certificate of recognition for the exemplary achievement to Smith and Coleman at the Committee meeting was Superintendent Jim Daly and Committee Chair Helena Ackerson.

At the York County Spelling Bee on February 15th at the Sanford Christian Academy, Coleman placed third and Smith received sixth place.
