Our Town is one of the world's most popular plays. Written in 1938, it is set in the early part of the 20th century in the fictional town of Grover's Corners, New Hampshire. The play follows the day-to-day activities of the townspeople, especially the lives of the Webb family and the Gibbs family. It is the developing, and ultimately, enduring relationship between Emily Webb and George Gibbs that is the focus of the play.
