In late March, Wells High School senior Jacob Wilson was selected to receive the 2015 Principal’s Award, an award sponsored by the Maine Principals Association given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

“Jacob has played an important role at Wells High School for the past four years,” commented WHS Principal Jim Daly. “He has challenged himself in the classroom and has exhibited leadership …(and) has demonstrated his dedication to his community through his work with the Boy Scouts of America. This recognition is well-deserved.”

On April 11th, Jacob, along with other recipients throughout the state, was honored at a banquet at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor.

This MPA Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler. Mr. McGowan and Mr. Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the Association. This year an additional five $1,000 scholarships were presented through the efforts of the MPA Scholarship Golf Tournament.

The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
