GIFTED AND TALENTED ACADEMIC PARENT REFERRAL: GRADES 2, 4, 8

Each year, our district identifies students to receive services from S-T-R-E-T-C-H, our Gifted and Talented Program, in the academic content areas of English Language Arts, mathematics, science and social studies. The students are screened at the end of grades 2, 4, and 8, and receive these services during their next grade span: grades 3-4; grades 5-8; grades 9-12. By state law, this program targets 3-5% of the student population.

Identification is based on the following criteria:

ACADEMIC CRITERIA

    • One of the top 3-5 students in their grade

    • Has an IQ of ≥ 130

    • Earns a 97% or above on the NWEA for three consecutive testing sessions

    • Earns a minimum score of 465 (Gr. 4) or 868 (Gr. 8) on the NECAP ELA

    • Earns a minimum score of 462 (Gr. 4) or 858 (Gr. 8) on the NECAP Math
