Superintendent Search Committee
The Wells-Ogunquit School Committee invites members of the Wells and Ogunquit school and town communities to participate as a member of the Search Committee for the Superintendent of Schools. The Search Committee will be made up of eleven members and will be responsible for screening potential candidates and making initial recommendations to the full School Committee of its consideration. It is our hope that the Search Committee will reflect all interests, including parents, students, staff members and members of the public. Please express your interest in serving on the search committee by 5:00pm on June 30th, 2015. Individuals are also asked to outline what they may bring to the committee in terms of involvement, skills, and/or interest in the schools. The commitment to serve on the Search Committee will include several meetings over a period of approximately 3-4 weeks.
Search Committee Members’ Responsibilities
Commit to participate in the process during the period of July 6th – July 31st, including attending all meetings and interviews. Interviews may be consolidated into several consecutive meetings, and such meetings may need to be held at night.
Review and screen applications using agreed‐upon screening criteria
Select individuals to interview and conduct initial interviews
A commitment to treat all materials and information gained through the hiring process regarding any applicant as strictly confidential and an agreement not to disclose or discuss such information outside the work of the Committee. Any breach of this confidentiality would be both a violation of the expectations of the Search Committee and a violation of the law.
Search Committee members generally do not make a hiring decision, negotiate salary or employment terms, or conduct detailed background investigations. The Search Committee’s participation usually ends with the identification of finalists.
