Post date: Mar 02, 2016 5:11:42 PM

Beginning Monday March 7th from 6 to 8 p.m., the Adult Community Education department at Wells High School will offer a 12-week Citizenship Preparation course for those wanting to take the U.S. Citizenship Naturalization Test to become a U.S. citizen.

The course will meet for 12 consecutive Mondays and is designed to help students prepare for all areas covered within the naturalization test. This course will help students feel more assured and prepared for the exam by building skills and gaining confidence.

The Naturalization Test consists of a written and an oral portion and covers English and Civics (U.S. History and American Government). Test takers prepare for 100 questions but on test day they are just given 10 out of the 100 to answer.

Some of the benefits of becoming a U.S. citizen include being able to vote, bring a family member to the U.S., apply for federal employment and/or become an elected official.

For more information on the course and to register for it, please contact the Wells-Ogunquit Adult Education office at 646-4564 or visit their website to register online. Website address: http://wells-ogunquit.maineadulted.org/
