Wells Junior High School seventh grade students
Anya Chase and Mitchell Libby placed at the state level in the Elks National
“Hoop Shoot” Free Throw Contest held at Bangor High School
on January 27th. Chase placed third in the Girls 12 and 13
Division by scoring 20 out of 25 foul shots while Libby, in a similar division
for boys, received second place by sinking 18 out of 25 foul shots attempted. On January 13th, Chase and Libby each
placed first in their respective divisions in the Coastal District portion of
this contest held at Wells
Junior High School. According
to the Maine Elks website, this foul shooting competition is open to all boys
and girls, ages 8 through 13. “All
public and private schools within the jurisdiction of a local Elk Lodge are
invited to participate in this program.” |
